Who can apply?
Emerging and early-career scholars, postdoctoral researchers, visiting scholars, and interdisciplinary practitioners with a strong research foundation may apply. Design should be central to the proposed inquiry.
How should a proposal relate to the annual theme?
The project should establish a substantive relationship with Convergence, Creativity, or Sustainable Futures. It may engage one dimension or connect several; applicants are not expected to use all three.
What is the application deadline?
The 2026 application deadline is May 31, 2026.
What materials are required?
A curriculum vitae, research proposal, personal statement, two representative works, host affiliation evidence, and contact information for two referees.
Does the applicant need a confirmed host institution?
A confirmed appointment is not required at the point of application. Applicants should have secured, or be actively pursuing, an appropriate host affiliation.
What is the fellowship support range?
The indicative total package is USD 80,000 to USD 120,000. The final structure depends on the research plan, host location, institutional requirements, and approved budget.
Is the published range guaranteed?
No. It is an indicative range; the confirmed amount and components will be stated in the fellowship award letter.
Is the fellowship an employment appointment?
No. It is support for independent research. Any appointment or affiliation with the host institution is governed separately by that institution.
Who owns the research outputs?
Scholars retain responsibility for their work. ADW does not claim ownership of research outputs or restrict academic publication.
How are applications considered?
Eligible applications receive expert assessment against the published criteria. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an online conversation before final decisions.
When will selected scholars be notified?
Admission notices are scheduled for late June 2026.
